Partners
Eye of the fly has been building partnerships within the community since 2001
Bamburgh School
We have worked with the pupils of Bamburgh School in South Shields since 2001, involving their pupils in photography projects that included site visits to professional studio and gallery environments.
In 2003, a class of pupils were asked to create a series of canvas art pieces, in the style of Andy Warhol, where the paintings were then displayed in a factory that was leased for three days, allowing our Charity the opportunity to showcase a number of works created by local talent.
We continue our work with Bamburgh and other Schools across the region, where it is our intention to allow young people to experience a wide-variety of arts and health-related activity.
Northumbria Police
Working in partnership to advance our Creativity Versus Crime initiative.
We were approached in 2001, when the authorities were seeking a suitable middle-ground to allow communications between artists who were engaged in illegal aerosol graffiti activity and the authorities.
We are currently working with Northumbria Police across the Tyne and Wear regions, where we are developing a combined strategy to focus on seeking positive solutions in the fight against vandalism. Our Wednesday and Saturday aerosol workshops are a positive step towards achieving this.
Gateshead Council
We worked with Gateshead Council's Adult and Community Learning department (16+ Learners) until 2005. Our approach since this time has been to offer a non-accredited course programme to our Learners, where this has built upon many relationships with the varied departments that make up Gateshead's local authority.
Newcastle College
We currently accomodate student referral placements from Fashion, Illustration, Multimedia, Photography and Graphics from Newcastle College of Art and Design and we worked with students from their Internal Architecture course, when coming up with the ideas as to how to design the interior of our premises.
We involve the students as hands-on volunteer employees within our Charity, where they complete their 120-hour placements, taking part in work that progresses the ongoing aims and objectives of the Charity. This is now an established relationship and many of our young people who we engage through workshops have been referred, via our Personal Development Programme, to Newcastle College.
South Tyneside Council
We have worked together with South Tyneside Council on several projects, in particular with the Sports and Leisure department. Our artists have been contracted through a number of Community Associations, where many of the young people we have worked with at these locations have become referrals who visit us on a weekly basis.
Turning Point
Direct referral routes are required for the types of vulnerable young people that make up the client database of Turning Point.
Our Charity's workshop platform acts as a progression route for these young people, providing them with a personal development programme at a time when they need it most, using arts and health-based Learning as an accessible and effective means of rehabilitating and getting the Learner back on positive life track.
NECA
This Charity hosted a young men's event with NECA in March 2007, opening young people up to experience a variety of positie activity which included, Photography, Fashion Design, Aerosol Art, Circus Skills, Audio, Film and Drumming. Our Charity will continue to work with NECA in to the future, where we aim to improve our programme to provide the exact required level of service at the time where a vulnerable client group most need it.
University of Sunderland
We began accomodating student referrals from the University in 2007, where students were placed to gain experience within our Audio Division department. It is our aim to mentor these students to Tutor level, where they can then deliver workshops on our behalf, as part of the Inhouse and Outreach programme of activity.
